Some Prisoner's Suggestions and Reports of Note

Some Suggestions questions and Demands
additions for demands:
1)From Terry Jackson

1. To wear face mask until they conclude their shift and leave the prison
2. To wear gloves when handling mail, inmates property or anything    that's exchanged from staff to inmate.
3. If staff isn't going to be required to wear mask and gloves, then     inmates should be furnished with mask and gloves to protect     themselves from potential exposure by staff that's not showing     symptoms but still could have been exposed to coronavirus
( full report below)

2)From Bobby Agala PDCCI

I am hoping you may add the following to requests to the D.O.C. in your negotiations.
            1) Once a COVID-19 lockdown happens that the inmate population immediately be informed.
            2) That a plan is in place for inmates to have a limited ability to use the phone and kiosk, and shower.

3)Prisoners Request COVID News
DARYL STRENKE (
434084)> Please publish info on covid-19 in DOC facilities. How many infected? Any deaths? Also, how can we make our own masks with allowed property items? We need info. Thank you.

4)JOSE SOTO (307830 WCI  1978,41) Corona and law library access 4 5 20

Hey! Glass to hear u are keeping safe and away from the outbreak of corona. I am writing because this corona isolation now deprives us of library access in wdoc and is the perfect reason to push for legal library to be added to tablets so that we may use the legal library in cells on tablets as the DAI previously stated was being looked into and is also already done in other states. This is my request. Is there anyway to directly request we be approved for, and given legal library on our tablets even if charged a fee to download the app as done with songs and movies, games etc?!? It would help us be constructive and allow access to library for legal matters as well as prevent spread of terms and bacteria/possible virus as the computer keyboards retains filth and germs from those whom don't clean their hands or keyboard properly at times. Could you please look into this possibility and advise?! I greatly appreciate it. Be safe and take care....Jose.

5) Adam Ebert OSCI questions about other prisons
So far no reports of coronavirus in the prison system except hearing something over in Waupun correctional inst. And Columbia correctional inst. Thats word to mouth through inmates. We don't know what's true and not true unless its on the news. But do you really think it would break the news for inmates to know if the coronavirus is in the prison system. Not really sure. I've heard different prisons doing different things for social distancing with inmates. There's not really any social distancing here at all at Oshkosh correctional inst. But have written people at other prison system and they are doing a bunch of different things for social distancing. Everyone wants to know what's going on in different prisons and and how social distancing in prisons and how many phone calls call other prisons make.

What are they going to do to make it better for people to contact their loved ones from in here at Oshkosh correctional inst. ?

Inmates are getting bored here. Upset, angry, and many emotions due to this coronavirus thing going on.  The mail has been slow on this end too not sure if that has anything to do with the coronavirus(full report below)

On CCI Covid-19
Currently 3 inmates so far have tested positive for Covid-19 here at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. The prison has said nothing to the inmates about these inmates yet inmates are finding out about these positive cases by the Milwaukee news outlets and their families.. We'll see how long it is before other inmates we have in addition to these three (3) end up getting this virus. I'd like to point out that, Correctional Officers and Administration Staff that come in from the streets do not wear facemask nor change there gloves frequently when they do wear gloves. Facemask should be worn as a must when coming in to a correctional facility in inmates opinion as we feel this is how the virus is going to get spread the easiest, and fastest.. Granted they are taking Officers temperatures prior to coming to their post does NOT deteriorate the possibility that they could be carrying the virus. A FACEMASK SHOULD BE WORN BY OFFICERS OR BE GIVEN TO INMATES TO UTILIZE! but they won't give them to us!

CARLOS ABADIA (222093) Wisconsin's New Death Penalty courtesy of Evers

Dear Governor Evers & Lt. Governor Barnes, I want you to know that my family, other prisoners families & love ones, friend, friends of friends all across the prison system are organizing & gathering up support all across the board because we will not be voting for you, as you have undermined the powerful influence prisoners have over their families.
You deceived us about closing down MSDF, You deceived us about pardons & clemency, we just no longer have trust and faith in you as our supposed leader. If you look at other states, governors have been releasing hundreds of inmates & you have executive powers as governor, why do you not use them? You are suppose to be the leader of the great state of Wisconsin we look to you for answers, but you must also listen to our suggestions & ideas and hold true to your word.
As a tax paying citizen & a voter of this great state we want to give you the benefit of a doubt but right now we don't believe in you, I mean so many Governors from other states have been releasing inmates by the hundreds. why have you not ordered the same? These men were not sentenced to death as there is no death  penalty in Wisconsin.
There are currently 2,800 old law prisoners left, most of them are in minimum security prison settings and majority of them have underlying medical issues.
I also write on behalf of Mr. Carlos Abadía #222093 who is minimum custody and has a release date of December 1, 2020.  Carlos has underlying medical issues, before I get to that I met with his parole agent, please beware that Carlos has a strong support system and a place to live.
Carlos's underlying medical issues are as follows which will be a death sentence for him and many others like him once Covid 19 reaches inside all the  prisons, [it's already reached the inside of a few prisons due to the carelessness of staff, and today a food service staff at Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution where Carlos is warehoused, was allowed to come in sick, she (Food Service staff Ms. Klema)  knew she was sick and it was supposedly discovered later that she was really sick and it was only then that she was sent home.]
Carlos has had bronchitis followed by pleurisy, asthma and he also has sleep apnea, these are the pulmonary issues, but that's not all, he also has a compromised immune system due to his ulcerative colitis disease, followed by rheumatoid arthritis and I'm baffled as to why you are not releasing inmates, because parole have been slow in acting or not acting at all.
I'm requesting that you please order the release of all inmates whom have been imprisoned for rule violations (crimeless revocations), release all inmates including but not limited to all old law inmates whom have less than a year before their release and or underlying health issues.

Dear Peg,
OSCI has 2 case of the  COVID-19 one unit is lockdown completely & I mentioned in my last email some are in HSU & seg. The rest of the institution on units are 2 people at a table only to eat day rooms are close. Only phones & the dayroom computer for emails.  One unit at a time for lib. & indoor rec been that way since I been here not sure how long that will be. They still have outdoor rec with all the 3 units at a time. There is 3 parts in this institution front, middle, & back each part has 3 units. there is also K-unit that unit is way up front & X-unit is the barracks & RHU(seg).
They are doing canteen by name can't sit down there. They have goofed up my canteen no creamer and no big envelopes I order 2 of them. This has not been the first time this canteen vender has goof up our canteen. The canteen staff told me order it again I told him I have it again & that that what before. I need get things sent out from Bible College  course. They also did not give me my receipt. I was told to write business office. I bet I will have to pay for that their mistake.  I'm getting sick tired of their BS.

Dear Whom concern,
I'm from OSCI there has been inmates in quarantine in HSU & also seg. w/no property they are not allow to use the phone or even send out their mail. So their family do not know what is going on here. Their rights are being violated. They are being punished for this COVID-19 they might not even have it. They should be allowed their property.
I ask the Sgt why these inmates can't be on the north side of seg. so they can have their property. He told me he does not know. The people on the street have rights in their house to watch TV & have their property when they are quarantined, but we are in prison we are not allowed. If they quarantine me they will not be happy with me I will be complaining everyday if I'm in seg or HSU with out my property.
PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON YOU GET THIS SO I KNOW YOU GOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS.

RALPH NICKEL (322916) OSCI Forced to eat while taminated 3/27/2020
I got a job at BCE or BSI here and I work in the Dirty Sort Department. Mon-Fri. I work with clothes & mops with urine & fesses in or on them.Plus someday's I work in the spray booth where we have to spray off the heavier cloth's,wash cloth's,towel's,piss Padd's,and a lot of other thing's that has fesses on it.At one point I was getting a save tray but our knew Unit Manager took it away from us cause he said,"You can go back to eat plus your wearing protected gear.  That is true we can go back but again
Taminated cause we are only wearing an apron like thing over our cloths and than when we do SWC(Southern) we put on a very thin wind jacket like that always get wet.Either way on what we wear.We are taminated from the strong smell also that is going into our cloths and skin.I'm I right? Now I tried to write the Warden twice on this but it seems like she doesn't care so I put in an ICE and hope I can turn this in a law suit for whats going on outside if you know what I mean.I worked with SCI,TCI,
and NBCI which all had the Neo Flu.Again they want me to come back to eat with the other inmates before taking a shower.Really sad!All I want is a save tray so I can take a shower first before I eat.Is there any thing wrong with that.So do you think I have a Law Suit here and if so can you please help me cause I don't know how to do them.Thank You!!

Hello all;
Just wanted to inform you all that there has been   are infected are quarantined. There's not much more to tell you. Little information is available as you well know. We are in greater need of your assistance now more than ever. People who like me suffer from severe lung diseases need better care than being left to fend for themselves. No efforts to protect have been put in place. I am a high risk person and I have received no additional support or treatment to help ward off the virus. There are at least 3 other people on my unit that are of similar risk and nothing is being done to provide adequate aid to any of us. What do we do? Who can help us? Isn't neglecting to provide adequate aid a crime in this state? Can HSU be held accountable for there blatant neglect and false claims to the media. Come see for yourselves. The truth is right in front of everyone's noses. How many have to be infected or die before someone gets their head out of their rear? Who's responsible for helping me be safe? And why do they still have a job? Thank-you for any help available. Sincerely Christopher

40)ADAM EBERT (543837) The coronavirus and safety for inmates
Sent 4-1-2020 at 10:58 pm
Hey a lot of inmates are concerned about there safety from getting the coronavirus in prison. Here at Oshkosh correctional inst. They spray 499 disinfected chemical everywhere. We don't know much about this 499 chemical other than a few things on the label which ain't much on it if it would effect someone's health or not if they breathing in a lot of these chemicals sprayed around the unit every day.

As of today here at Oshkosh correctional inst. 4-1-2020 a memo went up no handball, basketball, barber shop, or big group meaning only one unit at a time can go to our small library here. But that could still mean over 50 people in a close space. We don't do much social distancing here at all. Day rooms are always full of people over 50 plus people. This prison is over full to the point I don't think they will have enough room to put inmates if the do get it and it will spread like a wild fire in here. They still have big groups of people getting together for program in the day rooms. I think if the coronavirus gets into the prison system it will hit the prison system hard. And they won't be able to control it because of the over crowding in the prison system.

The question is what will Governor Tony Evers do to protect the over crowded prison system from getting the coronavirus and it spreading through the whole prison system? Will Tony Evers drop the prison population to make it safer with this coronavirus going around Wisconsin? What will the Governor do if the coronavirus would end up in the prison system? Are they going to let inmates out early due to coronavirus in the state of Wisconsin? There's a lot of questions being asked. Is this the time to pass a crimeless revocation bill to bring down prison population and let some people out?

We here at Oshkosh correctional inst. Only can make 5 phone calls a week to family. Where other prisons might be able to make more phone calls. It upsets inmates because they want to call to make sure their families are OK during this coronavirus going around. You just have to hope and pray your loved ones are OK. We used to only be able to make 3 phone calls a week. But they say because of no more visits we are able to now call 5 times a week which is our lock out on our phones here. So use your phone calls wisely when limited to 5 calls.

Thats all I got for now here at Oshkosh correctional inst. Well everyone at all the prisons spread the word and news of what's going on. Thanks for reading this. God bless everyone. Stay safe and healthy! Adam

Here's the the thing, guards are actually upset they have to work. I can't speak o on other units but unit four is still not totally safe for prisoners. Right now there's a guy who is beating on his cell door trying to get the Sgt. attention. His power is out. Now he's been knocking and yelling for the Sergeants. This is second shift. He's up set because we are using the phone, using the kiosks and every other day getting showers. The inmate who is beating could be having a medical emergency. These are the rookie staff prisoners bump heads with. He's young and in definitely in need of proper training. They are treating this quarantine as a discipline act for inmates. This unit is out of control because the unit leadership is out of control, not fit or mature enough in my opinion. Its clear they're not here to be compassionate, understanding, or a moral human being. But young, lost, uneducated
pain in the A*#.
Somedays, the unit runs smooth. And other days when it starts to get to them mentally, they become very unprofessional and start taking it out on the prisoners. These are the type of officers who makes families very worried about the safety of an love one.  No one has the right to take their personal issues out on another. Stay safe and keep up the good fight. See what an inmate can do to help those outside. I'm sending my love and prayers for you all. King DoC

It took sometime but we got to shower and made a free  call home. I guess something is being done right. I thank the community for standing with us. No one still haven't got back to us on donating blood. We will also like to help by having a fundraiser for the people who need our help most. We prisoners can donate art work, poetry and make make masks. We will like to help restaurants who are raising money, help low income families feed their kids. If you have any ideas on how maybe We can attempt to get these things done, please add any suggestions.  And, if you know someone I could contact, through email please post. Also if there's a place I can send some poetry and art work for a fundraiser to help families in  the community; free of charge, send me the location or come pick it up.Thank you. King DoC

Coronavirus potential prison death sentence
Please post and share:
CORONA VIRUS WILL BECOME A DEATH SENTENCE FOR INMATES LOCKED UP IN WISCONSIN PRISONS IF PROPER STEPS IS NOT IMPLEMENTED
With Coronavirus spreading rapidly throughout United States & Wisconsin. Prisons will be the least safe place to be. With an American scientist suggesting that humanity should at least remain six feet apart to be at a safe distance, that makes such requirements impossible in prison environment. With inmates doubled up and at close distances throughout the prison compound its evident that this is a recipe for the same catastrophic deaths we witness going on in society.
With an incubation period of 14 days before any evidence of contraction  is 14 days this virus will be passed before ever showing any symptoms and with the prison only method of determining exposure is looking for symptoms of fever from their staff 14 days after exposure. Is 14 days too late of exposing inmates to this virus. So its not a matter of SCI not presently having the virus but when one of these staff members become contracted without knowing it for 14 days and coming in here and exposing us. This is the only way the virus can be passed to inmates with visit shut down.

So basically we're just sitting ducks waiting for the inevitable to happen which is like sitting on death row waiting for our lethal injection (exposure.) Its clearly irresponsible for the DOC system to wait for the inevitable to take place before considering letting the people that's most vulnerable and at risk out of prison. Specially if their elderly and been sitting in prison over twenty five years or more and 50 years old or older with underline health conditions that has clearly been established vulnerable to this virus. This is clear justification for compassionate release for those within the age range just mentioned with hypertension, severe respiratory condition or a compromised immune system.
In the mean time staff that's coming in the prison system from the public to work should be required:
1. To wear face mask until they conclude their shift and leave the prison
2. To wear gloves when handling mail, inmates property or anything    that's exchanged from staff to inmate.
3. If staff isn't going to be required to wear mask and gloves, then     inmates should be furnished with mask and gloves to protect
themselves from potential exposure by staff that's not showing     symptoms but still could have been exposed to coronavirus.

This is the least that could be required until this matter is brought under control. Anything less than this is irresponsible for preservation of human safety and human life. It don't make sense to it down visits if staff is coming in and out the institution putting us at the same risk that visitors would have. Without wearing no protection to prevent from exposing us to potential contraction of coronavirus just because they are not showing any symptoms. At any given time staff can contract the virus in public and not show symptoms for 14 days while exposing us during this incubation period they were exposed. So there need to be requirements of staff wearing mask and gloves while at work or afford us inmates that option to protect ourselves from potential exposure.
